Ashok Tree Ashram

Ashok Tree Ashram

The Ashok Tree was established in 2005 by Yogi Ashokananda. Originally in Vrindavan, the ashram was relocated to the warmer climate of Paliapattu, Tiruvannamalai, Southern India in 2011. This means that the ashram now enjoys more space, peace and quietness away from the town, standing in the rural surroundings of around 12 acres of land. Over a number of years Yogi Ashokananda has been committed to developing not only communities amongst his students but in spearheading charity and community projects in his homeland. The Ashok Tree ashram is an extension of Yogiji’s vision to create a place of authenticity in his homeland of India. It is a place where people can come and experience ashram life, enjoy retreats, feel nurtured, supported and rejuvenated by the beautiful surroundings, ayurvedic vegetarian food and treatments. Aside from the daily practise of yoga and meditation there is the chance to participate in traditional ritualistic and ceremonial practices and help with the variety of ongoing community and charity projects (including a free school for tribal and under privilged children).

The Ashok Tree is located in Tiruvannamalai between Bangalore and Chennai  the home of Swami Ramana Maharshi and many  Siddhas. The ashram is located in rural surroundings and holds breathtaking views of both sunrise over the holy mountain of Arunachala and sunset over the  hills. The ashram is away from pollution and bustle, tucked away in farmland within nature and in precious wide open space. We grow our own vegetables or collect produce from local farms to use seasonally to promote natural living and enjoy healthy food.
