If you have been practising yoga for several years and feel that you are not advancing quickly enough or still can’t achieve advanced postures, it’s important to start enjoying your practice. Be happy with what your body can do. By feeling grateful for your abilities, both your body and your mind will become more open. Focus on building grace in your practice rather than struggling against your body. When you resist, your body fights back. However, when you approach your practice with gratitude, your body opens up, and your journey comes from a place of love and acceptance.
Allow your mind and body to explore yoga as a positive and loving relationship with yourself. You may be surprised at how much your body can open up when you treat your mind as your ally and your body as your home—not as something to abuse, but as something to cherish. Once you develop a healthy relationship with your body, your mind will become a friend, and your body will feel like a sanctuary.
Remember, your body is your mobile living temple—it’s not a garbage bin. Start loving your body by being mindful of the food you eat, as well as your emotions and thoughts. Whenever you see your body, take a moment to fall in love with yourself. Surrender your ego to yourself, and you won’t need to surrender to anyone else, because you will embody love itself.
