Master Your Emotional Responses

Accept people for who they are. Allow them to be themselves, and you won’t be easily influenced.

How can you avoid being affected by others’ behaviour? It’s simple: accept people for who they are. Allow them to be themselves, and you won’t be easily influenced. For example, if someone offers you water when you were expecting food, there is a mismatch, and you might feel unsettled. You can either accept the water or choose not to accept it at all, which means you won’t be affected. If someone behaves negatively toward you and you react in a way that acknowledges or endorses their negativity, you are accepting that negativity. Instead, approach the situation with gratitude and compassion; this way, the negativity remains with the other person rather than affecting you. You always have the choice of whether or not to engage. Ultimately, it’s not about what others say or do; it’s about your inner strength. The key lies in how much compassion, love, and kindness you offer to others, as well as your level of self-awareness. Maintain a steady focus and a clear mind to avoid being impacted by negativity.
