Yoga is not a competition, and that’s one reason to love it

Always remember: this is your journey!

When you start practising yoga asana, avoid setting high expectations for yourself. This helps prevent disappointment. Competing with others’ abilities can cause stress and frustration. It may even make you feel yoga isn’t for you. Yoga is a personal experience, even if you practise in a group. Your connection with yoga is one-on-one when it resonates. Stay away from competition. Focus on being steady and committed to your own path. Find a style of yoga you enjoy and can safely practice. Avoid overexertion. Aim to practice regularly and remain consistent with your chosen style. Notice how you feel during practice. Consider keeping notes to track your experiences. Build strength and awareness, and watch your practice evolve. Journaling can help; note the date of practice, how you felt before, during, and after practice, and any impacts. Each session may feel different, so stay open and receptive. Remember, this is your journey and your transformation.
